Spring Cleaning & Fresh Starts…

Warmest greetings friends and enemies.

Hi.  My name is Erika.  I’m here to do Jodi’s English homework.  For those of you that are wondering what that means exactly: I’m part of the level up.  Jodi’s running around having a ball, too busy to tend to anything she doesn’t LOVE.  Don’t lie.  Your inner child is throwing a fit.  This woman deadass hired a chick to outsource precious, precious content.  To snuggle her BUSINESS BABY!  Is Jodi abandoning us?!?  Is mom dropping us off at that weird babysitter’s house!  Cue the shocked gasps from the fellow controls freaks out there.  We see you.  We know you’re tired.  We’re not taking that fatigue with us.  That season is long over.  This is the renewal and we work from the inside out in this vibe tribe.

Spring is here with a bang, and in Wisconsin that bang was?  Another random blizzard.  Womp womp… cue sad music and stank face.  That’s ok.  Don’t worry, we are bringing you the warmth and the renewal right to you.  Gather round your phone and tablet screens, we got so much new stuff for you!

Jodi was not kidding about spring cleaning.  There have been a lot of changes going on.  Part of that is building a team you can use.  I met Jodi in a parking garage of a downtown Hilton of all places.   My best friend had been telling me vague things the past few months about this utterly magical unicorn she met while in the reserves.  She said something about an alignment hustle and some other stuff that perked my interest but nothing wild enough to hold it.  The only phrase that stuck was, ‘this woman will brain wash you into believing in yourself’.  I didn’t search for her or the podcast.  Some months went by, and then I got an invite to attend a Battalion ball in place of my friend’s husband.  I asked about magic unicorn girl and was sad to hear, she wasn’t expected that night.  Sad, but meh.

We go about our night and good times.  The evening was filled with endless faces, introductions, rank explanations, and thankfully, alcohol.  We finally hear whispers about food and go to look for our table when I hear this laughter.  Not a single person laughing but a growing roar from a group I can’t see.  My friend points out one of her other buddies I hadn’t seen in some time and we go to the laughter.  Then I see this beautiful girl in a flowing chiffon dress fitting of Persephone (goddess of spring to save you a google).  It’s below zero outside.  The city issued a severe weather alert.  This woman is wearing a layered pink dress capped with a cute black leather jacket.  I didn’t know if I should give her my lunch money or throw daisies at her.  I’m introduced to her long enough to compliment her outfit and was still doing so to my friend as we were both immediately pulled away.  My friend tells me that was her.

Dust settles, Queens don't. Loving this gown from #windsor. #dresses #springfashion #springwedding #whattowear

(Seriously, this is how my girl showed up.  I was half expecting to see flowers appear in her wake… meanwhile, cold white misery is blanketing the entire Midwest.  Snowplows everywhere.  Jodi’s all ‘I wasn’t even planning to come.’)

The night degrades and somehow I find myself with Jodi and my best friend in a parking garage smoking cigarettes and talking about what’s your super power.  I’m weird.  Like I am the cautionary child your mom warned you about weird.  So I’m excitedly trying to think about what my super power is when my buddy answers.  She writes.  Jodi seemed intrigued, she asks what I write about.  I respond with the only two words I can.  Anything.  Everything.  I ask what she needs and before she could even think I say, whatever you need I can probably write it.  The three of us chatted in that cold parking garage for at least two cigarettes (that’s approx. 15-30 mins for everyone actively avoiding emphysema).  Let me tell you people; we talked about the most random oddball things in that short time.  It was a blast.  I walked back to the room feeling a bit exposed.  It’s so weird being weird with new people.  However, nothing was as weird as how comfortable and inspired I was after it.

It started slow at first.  I found myself drawing more and listening to more soothing stuff while doing it.  Some guided meditation here, inspirational stuff there; and then I remembered the podcast.  I didn’t binge out every day….but the episodes were so much shorter than other podcasts I was used to.  Who does a podcast less than an hour long anyway?  Someone who I need to subscribe to.  Ten minute episodes!  I’ve lost longer segments of my life in a KFC drive-thru; sign me up.  Then she drops the “I Quit + Spring Cleaning Mindset” and I’m like ooooooo this is long.  I shied away from starting the episode because I had a crap ton to do that day but then a subtle inkling said, just start playing it and pause if you need to.  Do you know, not one person disturbed me?  If you knew my schedule you would point, laugh and call me a liar.  I even had time to go back, replay and REALLY listen.

So to those of you wondering if you should stay or fade out on this newest leg of Jodi’s journey, to paraphrase Tunechi: “we’d hate to see you go, but we’d love to watch you leave (Lil Wayne, Bedrock).”  Jodi’s not a rapper, but inserting song lyrics into everything brings me so much joy.  Don’t take the above too personal.  We all need to release things.  Sometimes we have to let go of the good to make room for great.  If we have to let you go to make room for a higher vibe, we’ll still be here when you’re ready to elevate.  The only reason to take any of this to heart is if it inspires you to act for your improvement and your overall alignment.  If this message isn’t resonating with you, you’re still very much welcome here.  Take all of what you need, and none of what you don’t.  Think of me as the cool spinster aunt you see at random family gatherings; definitely eccentric, certainly funny, but well-meaning and kind hearted.  We absolutely LOVE hearing from you!  Tell us what you think!
